Key Features
Real-time Protection at the Gateway
Real-time virus detection and cleanup for all SMTP, HTTP, and FTP Internet traffic at the gateway.
- SMTP protection complements your mail server to scan all inbound and outbound SMTP traffic for viruses
- HTTP protection keeps infected files from being downloaded and allows you to set uniform, system-wide security standards
for Java and Authenticode. It also affords your users protection against malicious Java and ActiveX programs
- FTP protection works transparently to ensure that infected files are not downloaded from unsecured remote sites
Compatible with most Firewalls
100% compatible with FireWall-1 and most major firewalls.
Automatic Virus Pattern File Updates
Weekly updates of the virus pattern file are available from Trend Micro's Web site and can be automatically downloaded and installed. Emergency pattern files are
made available on an "as needed" basis.
Convenience
Configures locally via Windows interface or remotely using a Web browser
Flexible Configuration and Internet-Enabled Management
InterScan VirusWall can be configured to respond to virus detection and security violation incidents in several ways, alone or in combination:
- Alert the system administrator
- Isolate the infected file for later cleaning or other action
- Delete the infected file
- Permit the user to download the file under certain strictly-controlled conditions
Easy-to-Manage, Robust Activity Log
InterScan VirusWall maintains a comprehensive activity log, which details for each infected file or attempted security violation: the origin, name and destination
of the file, the date the file was received, the identity of the virus found, and the action taken. This allows administrators to easily track the source of problems
and deal with them appropriately.
Trend's Proprietary Scan Engine
InterScan VirusWall uses Trend's multi-threaded, 32-bit scan engine to detect thousands of viruses, including 100% of those found on
Joe Well's 'Wild List.' InterScan detects known and unknown viruses and recognizes more than 16 types of compression
encoding formats and scans down as many as 20 layers of compression.
CVP-compliant Firewall Integration
InterScan VirusWall seamlessly integrates with Check Point FireWall-1 NG or 2000 via Check Point's CVP API. This integration allows scanning of Internet traffic - SMTP, HTTP and FTP, without
changing the network topology or end-user's browser proxy configuration - simply add a rule within the FW-1 rule base to redirect traffic to the InterScan VirusWall
server. Multiple InterScan VirusWall servers may be grouped to provide load balancing and fault tolerance of virus and content scanning. InterScan VirusWall for NT v3.5
and v3.52 are OPSEC certified for FW-1 NG and 2000.
Sendmail Edition Improves Performance and Streamlines Installation
InterScan VirusWall Sendmail Edition for Solaris tightly integrates with Sendmail's Content Management API. The product simplifies deployment and installation while
improving security and performance. Following the installation documents, configuring a production mail server for virus scanning can be completed in less than one
hour. InterScan VirusWall Sendmail Edition supports virus scanning and cleaning of message attachments processed through SendMail Inc.'s commercial Sendmail Switch and
Opensource products, and is compatible with Sun Solaris.
iCAP Edition Enables Secure Web Caching
InterScan VirusWall iCAP Edition provides enterprises with a complete Web content virus protection solution utilizing the Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (iCAP).
Interscan VirusWall iCAP in conjunction with
Network Appliance's NetCache Proxy Server scans,
caches, and safely distributes all HTTP traffic while reducing the bandwidth congestion, Web access delays and other bottlenecks associated with scanning and rescanning
Web pages. InterScan VirusWall iCAP edition installs on the gateway server and runs on the Sun Solaris platform.
Supports Lucent's Firewall
Interscan VirusWall supports direct integration with
Lucent's Managed Firewall using Trend and Lucent's jointly
developed content scanning protocol (Solaris only)
Works with Trend
Micro Control Manager
Allows administrators to have centralized configuration and management of all Trend Micro solutions, regardless of platform.
