Accellion Secure File Transfer

Accellion Secure File Transfer provides organisations with a means of sending information securely via email. Files up to 20 GB in size may be sent from either a web interface, or from within Microsoft Outlook, Sharepoint, or Autonomy iManage Worksite by means of a plugin . An audit trail is created for all email that is sent, and notifications are generated when the information sent has been downloaded by the recipient. To avoid the data leakage / loss, the email cannot be downloaded by anyone other than the authorised email recipient.

Accellion is available either as a physical or VMWare appliance or as an online service, and helps organisations to overcome a number of key issues:

• Mail attachment size limits often cause problems when large files need to be sent, leading to the file having to be sent in multiple emails or incurring the expense of burning the file to CD / DVD and using a courier company.
• With mail attachment sizes growing, mailboxes can become clogged with large mail attachments, which have a negative impact on system performance. Accellion removes the need for these large files to be stored on the corporate mail server
• An email that is sent to a trusted correspondent cannot accidentally or intentionally be simply forwarded to another party, thereby minimising the threat of exposure of confidential information.
• Standard FTP servers use no encryption, and incur an administrative overhead in the maintenance of user accounts. Accellion encrypts all information using SSL encryption, and no setup of recipient user accounts is required.

Accellion supports integration with data leak prevention systems via the Accellion DLP Module for Content Monitoring and Filtering.   In addition, an option is available to ensure that all files uploaded to the Accellion system are free from viruses.
