Managing Web-based security is a complex task that
requires the right tools. As the number of users and Web applications
increases, so does the complexity of developing web security policy and the
risk of error.
The Blue Coat Visual Policy Manager simplifies security policy creation and
management. Administrators can rapidly create complex policy rules and
easily evaluate their impact. The intuitive graphical user interface,
familiar to security administrators, makes it easy to define granular,
multi-layered security policy across a network of Blue Coat Secure proxy
server appliances.
Visual Policy Manager enables administrators to:
Enforce port 80 security with powerful policies
Create and maintain policy with easy to use graphical interface
Launch and use from any workstation with a Web browser
Simplify the creation of security policy
Blue Coat Systems Visual Policy Manager provides a powerful
graphical tool for developing, implementing and managing an organization's
web security policies.
With the Blue Coat Visual Policy Manager, security and network administrators
can quickly create policy rules that leverage the powerful flexibility of
the Blue Coat Web Knowledge Framework and Policy Processing Engine to build
powerful security rules for SG Series secure proxy servers.
Features
Intuitive Policy Creation Interface
Quickly create sophisticated web security and control policies. Base rules
on user, group, network, and/or directory attributes, as well as content
type, browser type, protocol, and much more.
Policy Layering
Group similar policy rules for easier management. For example, content
filtering policies and virus scanning policies can be grouped into separate
layers for easy administration. In addition, security personnel can define
exception policies as needed, without disrupting existing standard
policies.
Multiple Authentication Realms
Define what authentication server/realm must be used for authentication.
Administrators can define a consistent security policy for users even if the
users are defined in separate authentication systems. For example,
administrators can define a single policy across an organization even if
some of the employees are set up in an NT Domain and others in an LDAP
directory.
Automated Policy Distribution
Combined with Blue Coat Director, allows administrators to distribute policy
to different proxy servers by region and automate the distribution of
changing policy.
Content Policy Language (CPL)
In addition to visual policy creation, administrators can also create
Content Policy Language definitions, providing the power of a sophisticated
macro language for policy definition.
Temporary Disable
Choose to disable policies without deleting them altogether for
troubleshooting purposes or to make a temporary exception to a given policy
rule.
Browser-based
Java-based interface runs as a snap-in to any Java-enabled web browser.
Requirements
System Requirements
Blue Coat Visual Policy Manager requires Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1 to
run in Microsoft and Netscape web browsers. If the JRE is not present, it is
automatically downloaded and installed the first time VPM is run.
