InterScan® Messaging Security for SMTP is high-performance,
policy-based antivirus and email security software for internet email. It
protects corporate email servers (e.g. Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino)
against spam and viruses, augmented with powerful file and keyword filtering
to protect the company against non-business related content and internet
email attack.

Virus Outbreak Prevention
In addition to scanning all inbound and optionally outbound email against
existing known virus pattern files, Interscan Messaging Security Suite
(IMSS) proactively defends against newly discovered email borne viruses and
worms through it's optional Outbreak Prevention plugin. Although the
majority of organisations now update their virus pattern files automatically
on a daily basis, an organisation is at greatest risk of contracting a new
worm or virus in the first few hours after it is released, and before the
virus companies have issued their new pattern file updates. Outbreak
Prevention helps organisations to mitigate the risk that a new virus poses
to corporate email security by polling out to Trend Micro for content filter
blocks which are made available by Trend Micro to prevent infection by a new
worm or virus in advance of the new pattern file being released. These are
automatically installed onto Interscan Messaging Security Suite, and then
deleted when the new pattern file is implemented on the server.
Mass-Mailing Virus Containment Stops DoS Attacks
Even if you are unlucky enough to contract a new worm either via the
internet or a mobile user, Interscan Messaging Security Suite will prevent
the worm from mailing itself to large numbers of users outside your
organisation. The behaviour of a mass mailing worm is simple to identify,
and Interscan Messaging Security Suite simply stops transmission of these
emails through the internet gateway.

Business Integrity
Trend Interscan Messaging Security Suite helps an
organisation to implement their email security policy by filtering
non-business or inappropriate messaging by keyword, true file type,
attachment name/size, and more.
Protection Against Mail Relay and Email Attack
Mail relay and email attack are becoming increasingly disruptive to
organisations' email security, primarily because even though security may
not be actually breached, the corporate email server will often crash with
the load of rejecting bulk email attacks of one kind or another. Interscan
Messaging Security Suite may be placed in line between the company mail
server and firewall and will protect the company mail server against these
types of disruptive attacks, minimising the associated disruption on company
business processes.
